Checks reported stolen in Marion County. Arrests made.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office reports that an investigation into the reported theft of checks from a residence on Frank Lee Road has led to two arrests. On June 21, Deputies with the Sheriff’s Office arrested Dustin S. Harris (29) and Hannah M. Buckman (20) both of Raywick on (19) counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument. On June 7 and 8, Harris and Buckman were found to have passed the stolen checks at Walmart in Lebanon. Both were lodged in the Marion County Detention Center on $10,000 partially secured bond.

Marion Washington County Relay for Life is Saturday night.

The Marion Washington County Relay for life will be Saturday starting at noon at the Lebanon Springfield Airport. At noon will be the Opening Ceremony by honoring everyone who’s been affected by cancer and everyone who has contributed to the success of this year’s Relay season.

Saturday evening at 7 is the Survivor/Caregiver Walk.

Then at dusk around 10 PM will be the Luminaria Ceremony

Country 100.9 WLSK will broadcast the event Saturday evening. Please come out and join the 2018 Relay for Life. Starting at 8 PM

Marion County man dies from tractor accident.

On June 6 at 10:12 p.m. the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a missing person on property located at 1540 Riley Road in Gravel Switch. Deputy Sheriff Ben Lancaster arrived a short time later and found the body of Ben S. Barlow (63) of Gravel Switch laying in a field. The initial investigation found that Barlow had been bush hogging the property when the seat of his tractor broke loose causing him to fall from the tractor and under the bush hog. Deputy Coroner Tom Colvin was called to the scene and pronounced Barlow deceased.

Kayaker Body recovered in Marion County

A member of Marion County Rescue reported Wednesday afternoon (May 9, 2018) at @ 5:37 p.m. that the body of missing kayaker Anthony Brown was recovered from the river near the Old Mill Dam.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Department was notified who, in turn, contacted the Coroner’s Office. Police records indicate the Rescue Squad cleared the scene shortly after 7:30, with the Sheriff’s Dept. still on the scene at that time.

Brown had been missing since Sunday evening after falling out of his kayak when it went over the dam.

Members of the Marion County Rescue and Taylor County Rescue Departments were among those who were involved in the search.
