Marion County High School students looking to prepare for the ACT will have an opportunity next week to hone their skills on the English and reading sections. MCPS Gifted and Talented Consultant Laurie Followell will hold hour-long prep sessions in the Marion County High School library July 9-13 at 11:00 am.

Columbia, Ky. (July 2, 2018) During the month of June 2018, there were 16 traffic accidents investigated by the State Police working in the Post 15 area in the 11 counties of Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, Marion, Metcalfe, Monroe, Russell, Taylor and Washington.
There were no fatal collisions during the month of June in the Post 15 area.
This brings our yearly fatality count to 11 compared with 5 through this same period in 2017.
Statewide fatality count stands at 317 compared with 357 through this same period in 2017.
During the month of June 2018, there were 1035 citations written, 285 courtesy notices written, 1235 vehicles inspected, 710 complaints answered, 56 motorists assisted, 52 criminal cases opened and 235 criminal arrests made.

Springfield Police report that at approximately 2:39 A.M. this morning , the Springfield E911 Center received a 911 call reporting gunfire at 101 W. Main St., in front of what is called the Old Louisville Store during a private party. Springfield Police arrived on scene and secured the area. No victims were found at this location.
Police said they later learned a female was taken to Springview Hospital in Lebanon with a non-life-threatening wound, which authorities say was connected to the Main Street shooting. Springfield Police are currently investigating this crime and ask that anyone with information please call the PD at 859-336-5450.
Springfield Police want to advise the public that it appears there were several rounds fired during this shooting and we have diligently tried to track down every round that was fired. If a nearby business locates an unaccounted for bullet hole or fragments please contact the Springfield Police Dept at 859-336-5450.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office reports that an investigation into the reported theft of checks from a residence on Frank Lee Road has led to two arrests. On June 21, Deputies with the Sheriff’s Office arrested Dustin S. Harris (29) and Hannah M. Buckman (20) both of Raywick on (19) counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument. On June 7 and 8, Harris and Buckman were found to have passed the stolen checks at Walmart in Lebanon. Both were lodged in the Marion County Detention Center on $10,000 partially secured bond.
The Marion Washington County Relay for life will be Saturday starting at noon at the Lebanon Springfield Airport. At noon will be the Opening Ceremony by honoring everyone who’s been affected by cancer and everyone who has contributed to the success of this year’s Relay season.
Saturday evening at 7 is the Survivor/Caregiver Walk.
Then at dusk around 10 PM will be the Luminaria Ceremony
