Two Marion County Teens dead after early Sunday Accident

On September 9 at 12:26 a.m. the Marion County Sheriff’s Office received the report of a one vehicle collision on St. Joe Road (highway 412) approximately (4) miles west of Lebanon. The initial investigation found that Davis M. Rafferty (16) of Lebanon while operating a 1999 Ford pickup truck apparently lost control in a curve with the vehicle traveling off the right shoulder of the roadway. The vehicle then re-entered the roadway, crossed to the opposite lane before exiting off of the left shoulder striking several tree’s before coming to rest in a wooded area. Two passengers, Joseph M. Robey (17) and Timothy A. Smith (17) both from the St. Francis community of Marion County were pronounced deceased at the scene by the Marion County Coroner. Three other passengers in the vehicle were 16 and 17 year of age males from Marion County. All were treated at the scene and transported to Springview Hospital by Marion County EMS. Raywick Fire and Marion County Rescue assisted at the scene. Deputy Sheriff Tristan Hayden is in charge of the investigation.
